Empowerment Course 2026: Get an up-close look at medical research!
How does medical progress come about? Students in grades 10 through 13 explored this question on June 25 and 26, 2026, as part of the DZKJ Empowerment Course in Göttingen. This year’s focus was on the brain and the nervous system.
In addition to gaining insights into current medical research through expert lectures, the participants also had the opportunity to get hands-on experience. In the lab, they performed molecular biology techniques such as PCR, restriction analysis, and gel electrophoresis.
A particular highlight was the presentation by DZKJ patient advocate Bria Bopp (17), who, drawing on her own family’s story, powerfully demonstrated why medical research is so important—and what an immense impact it can have on people’s lives!
