International PPPI Workshop: Participation and Involvement in Paediatric and Adolescent Research

How can the participation of children, adolescents, parents, and other stakeholders in medical research be effectively structured? What experiences have been gained so far, what challenges remain, and what prospects exist for the future development of participatory research?

These questions will be the focus of the international PPPI workshop on June 24, 2026, organized by the Institute for Ethics and History of Medicine at the University Medical Center Göttingen. Louca-Mai Brady (University of Hertfordshire, UK) and Christine Dedding (Amsterdam UMC, Netherlands), two internationally renowned experts on child and youth participation in medical and healthcare settings, will present their findings. Their presentations will be complemented by short talks from the ongoing PPPI project network (Patient, Parent, Public, Involvement) at various locations of the German Center for Child and Adolescent Health (DZKJ).

The workshop provides a forum for exchanging ideas on theoretical foundations, practical experiences, and future developments in participatory research.
